Jurassic Park

BadBiology: There are a couple of major flaws in the premise of this movie. First, the mosquito in the piece of amber from which they have extracted the dinosaur DNA is clearly a male (you can tell by the antennae), however only female mosquitoes feed on blood. Consequently, it is impossible that a male mosquito could have yielded dinosaur DNA.

Secondly, in the species of mosquito shown in the film, Toxorhynchites sp., both the males and females are nectarivorous, and, regardless of sex, would only have had nectar in their stomachs.

Any good biologist would recognize that a Zeiss compound microscope sitting on the workbench has one of its ocular lenses on backwards. The problem…a microscope can't be used that way.
